Game 4 preview: MTL vs. BOS
Boston Bruins vs. Montréal Canadiens

Eastern Conference Second Round Series : Game 4

Canadiens lead series 2-1

On Thursday night, the Canadiens, playing at the Bell Centre, will have a chance to push the Boston Bruins to the brink.

The Habs jumped to an early lead in Game Three on Tuesday night. Tomas Plekanec took a back-door pass from new linemate Thomas Vanek and put the puck past a helpless Tuukka Rask at the half-way mark of the first period. Four minutes later, P.K. Subban stormed out of the penalty box after serving a minor and was spotted the puck by Lars Eller. The defenseman skated in alone against Rask and deked out the Bruins netminder to double his team’s lead, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

After Dale Weise and Patrice Bergeron added goals for their respective teams in the second period, Montreal headed into the intermission with a 3-1 lead. Jarome Iginla made things close late in the third period, but the Habs survived the late-game Boston surge and got the benefit of a Lars Eller empty-net tally to seal the win with three seconds left in the third.

Boston out-shot Montreal 28-25, but saw their effort dampened by Carey Price, who made 26 saves. Price now has a 0.920 save percentage in the series.

Despite only notching a lone assist through the first three games against Boston, look for Max Pacioretty to have a big night on Thursday. The left-winger, who scored 39 regular-season goals, has a team-leading 12 shots on net while averaging 20:31 of ice time per game in all situations. If he keeps putting the puck on goal, good things are sure to happen for number 67.

Habs coach Michel Therrien will unveil his starting lineup just before puck drop.

Puck drop will be at 7:30PM E.S.T.
