>> About the LRF Program

The Montreal Canadiens LRF Program, in association with Hockey Quebec, begins its sixth year within minor hockey in Quebec.  The objective of the program is to support and promote the growth and development of minor hockey in Quebec. In 2007-08 alone, the program reached 2,500 teams in the province.

The program offers all Quebec minor hockey players, from Novice to Bantam, the opportunity to sign a contract issued and approved by the Canadiens organization and signed by Bob Gainey.  All players, parents and coaches of registered teams must respect and honor the principles defined by the LRF Program, the Canadiens and Hockey Quebec.

These principles serve as valuable guidelines to encourage good conduct, strong moral values and good sportsmanship among young players. Below you will find the agreement which the players and coaches agree to adhere to.

As a hockey player, I agree to:

  • Have fun playing hockey
  • Learn and observe the rules of the game and the principles of sportsmanship
  • Always respect my teammates, the officials, my opponents and their supporters Always remain in control of my emotions, so that hockey does not become a violent sport
  • Respect my coach and team managers and follow their instructions
  • Respect Hockey Quebec's Code of Ethics at all times

As a hockey coach, I agree to:

  • Learn and respect the written rules of amateur hockey and promote them at all times
  • Respect the referees and their decisions, and require the same behavior from my players at all times
  • Teach my players about good sportsmanship by encouraging and rewarding such behavior
  • Remember that the less talented players deserve to play as well
  • Respect the opposing coaches, players and their supporters and require the same from my players
  • Respect Hockey Quebec's Code of Ethics at all times

As the parent of a player, I agree to:

  • Encourage my child to respect the principles of the LRF Program
  • Apply the values of the LRF Program as a team supporter
