On February 20, 2011, the Canadiens braved the Calgary cold to play the Flames in the NHL Heritage Classic. Seven years would have gone by before seeing an outdoor game being played in Canada, the last Heritage classic had been played out by the Oilers and the Habs at the Commonwealth stadium back in November 2003. The Canadiens would eventually fall to the Flames, with a clear 4-0 hometown win.
