Position: DIRECTOR, HOCKEY OPERATIONS
Patrick Boivin is beginning his third season as director of hockey operations of the Canadiens after having been appointed to this position in July 2010. His main duties consist of assisting the general manager in several hockey operations areas including budget management, league affairs, team services and internal business cooperation. He also assists the GM in contract negotiations and salary cap management and acts as a liaison with the Canadiens affiliate team in Hamilton.
Patrick, 34, spent two years as corporate marketing manager with NHL Enterprises Canada where he introduced a new and comprehensive wireless digital mobile sports content platform.
Between 2002 and 2008, he became very familiar with the Canadiens organization having held several positions with the club. After two years as a marketing coordinator and supervisor, he was promoted manager, marketing events and programs and game presentation producer. In this role, he developed and executed all marketing programs and special events while supervising in-game marketing promotions. In July 2006, he was appointed group manager, marketing events, programs and promotions, playing a pivotal role in establishing the strategic sponsorship structure of the Canadiens Centennial.
Boivin earned a degree in Finance and International Business from HEC Montreal, and also studied at Aarhus University in Denmark. He also attended University of Colorado and Montreal Polytechnique studying aeronautical and mechanical engineering after completing a post graduate diploma at Hotchkiss School in Connecticut.
