Eastern Conference Second Round Series : Game 6

Boston leads 3-2

Playing its first do-or-die game of the 2013-14 season, the Canadiens will look to force Game 7 against the Bruins, Monday at the Bell Centre.

On Saturday, the Boston Bruins won a pivotal Game 5 4-2 to force the Habs to the brink of elimination. Carl Soderberg and Loui Eriksson had even-strength goals for the Bruins, while Jarome Iginla and Reilly Smith scored on the powerplay for the home team at TD Garden. For a second consecutive game, Montreal did not score at even strength, but did see Brendan Gallagher and P.K. Subban beat Tuukka Rask on the powerplay. Despite the setback, the Habs did manage to slightly out-shoot their opponents at five-on-five, 22 to 20, after being heavily outclassed by Boston earlier in the series in that aspect.

P.K. Subban ran the show for the Canadiens on Saturday, playing 27:42 while putting up six shots on net, eight other shot attempts, four hits and scoring with a scorching one-timer on the man advantage. He’ll need some help from his teammates on Monday night, but rest assured that the 2013 Norris Trophy winner will be on his game.

With his team looking for a first goal at even strength in more than 120 minutes of play, look for coach Michel Therrien to make some adjustments to his lineup in order to recapture the formula which saw his team average over three goals a game in its first six playoff outings this spring.

Puck drop will be at 7:30 PM E.S.T.
