The Numbers Game - March 3, 2013

BOSTON – Here's a numerical look at the Habs-Bruins matchup at TD Garden on Sunday night.

235 – Number of games played by Michael Ryder as a member of the Boston Bruins between his stints as a Hab. The Newfoundland native won the Stanley Cup in 2010-11 wearing black and gold.

8 – Number of games played over the course of the longest road trip in Canadiens history on a journey that stretched between the 12th and 30th of October, 1968. Michel Therrien and the current edition of the Canadiens kicked off their longest road trip of the season (5 games) Sunday night in Boston.

14 – Number of points picked up by Max Pacioretty over the course of his last nine games, with the Habs power forward failing to make his way on the scoresheet only a single time during that sequence.

5:40 – Amount of time taken by the Bruins to register their first shot on net against the Habs, when Shawn Thornton finally managed to put one on Peter Budaj shortly after the five minute mark.

1:06 – Amount of time taken by both teams to score the first three goals of Sunday night’s match, with Tomas Plekanec netting a power play goal at 9:57, Tyler Seguin tying the game at 10:47 and David Desharnais putting the Habs back on top at 11:03 of the opening frame.

1797 – Number of days that elapsed since Michael Ryder’s last point in a Canadiens jersey, with the veteran winger putting an end to that stretch Sunday night, earning his first assist since rejoining the team.

4 – Number of power play goals scored so far by Tomas Plekanec this season – only one less than 2011-12 when he potted five over the course of 81 games.

42 – Number of penalty minutes handed out by the refs over the course of Sunday night’s second period of action.

4 – Number of points collected by Alexei Emelin over the course of his last three games, with the Russian defenseman tying his tally of seven points from last season in only 22 games this year.
