The Numbers Game - January 30, 2013

OTTAWA – Here’s a numerical look at the Habs-Sens match-up in Ottawa on Wednesday night.

299 – Number of days since Peter Budaj last got the start between the pipes for the Habs, dating back to the 2011-12 season finale against the Leafs at the Bell Centre on April 7.

13 – Number of seconds needed by Tomas Plekanec to make Chris Phillips pay for his bad behavior, scoring a power play goal almost immediately after the Sens blue-liner went to the box in the first period.

5 – Consecutive number of games where the Canadiens have gotten on the board first, with Plekanec opening the scoring just over five minutes into Wednesday’s game.

38 – Number of penalty minutes racked up by the Habs and Senators in the first period alone, including two fights before the first TV time out.

5 – Consecutive number of games in which Andrei Markov has registered at least a point, picking up an assist against the Sens to bring his total to four goals and eight points in that span.

292 – Number of assists piled up by Markov throughout his 12-year NHL career, tying him with Hector “Toe” Blake at 25th on the Canadiens’ all-time assist leaderboard.

204 – Consecutive number of games played by Brandon Prust without taking a night off, adding to his current Canadiens iron man streak.

42 – Number of penalty minutes racked up by Ryan White through six games in 2012-13, giving him the league lead in that category so far this year.
