Updates on Carey

BROSSARD -- One of NHL’s busiest netminders the past two years, Carey Price saw his season cut short with only a few games to go in the campaign.

When it came time to assess this past season, the 24 year-old goalie started by explaining what had happened to him to force him out of the lineup for the last four last games of the season.

“On March 20, I was knocked down by a teammate during practice. I was hit in the head and my spine was compressed,” explained Price who still started 65 games this season. “I was having headaches for about a week before I told anyone. They were just headaches; I can play with headaches so I kept playing. It didn't get any better; it was actually getting worse. I told the trainors about it and we decided to play it on the safe side.”

Since concussion symptoms can be as tricky to identify correctly as which Sedin twin is which, the Canadiens’ All-Star still geared up for four games after March 20, posting a 0.925 save percentage in that span.

“I wasn’t quite sure what was happening to me. I’ve played with headaches before,” continued Price. “It was the consistency of the headaches. I was diagnosed with a slight concussion but I’ve been having neck problems since. It’s nothing serious but it’s best to be careful.”

Price, who showed up at the Bell Centre donning his trademark cowboy hat to accept the Molson Cup on Saturday confirmed he’s on the right track to recovery.

“I feel better. I’ve made progress in the past week,” confessed Price. “I still have symptoms. I still have problems with my neck. It’s a long process. But the doctors told me that there was nothing to worry about for next season.”
