WASHINGTON - Here’s a numerical look at the game between the Canadiens and the Capitals at the Verizon Center on Friday night.
69 – Number of regular season games that have been played since the last time Mathieu Darche didn’t dress for the Habs, going all the way back to March 22, 2011. Darche would spend his Friday night watching his team pay from the press gallery, sidelined by an upper-body injury.
5 – Number of active NHL goaltenders who have reached the 260 game mark before the age of 25, with Carey Price being the latest to accomplish the feat Friday night, joining Cam Ward, Roberto Luongo Marc-Andre Fleury and Martin Brodeur.
72 – Number of games played by Jeff Halpern in a Canadiens uniform during the 2010-11 season. The veteran center would return to the team he once captained for the NHL’s latest campaign, becoming a Capital once again.
346 – Number of days that have elapsed since the last time the Canadiens scored a goal against the Capitals. Rene Bourque would end the unfavourable streak by finally beating Michal Neuvirth in the third period of Friday’s game.
6 – Number of Canadiens who have at least one short-handed goal this season, with Rene Bourque adding himself to that list with the 13th short-handed marker of his career while P.K. Subban served his sentence in the penalty box.
