Holiday hustle

MONTREAL – A handful of Canadiens hopefuls could find themselves enjoying aan action packed holiday season this year by being chosen to represent their country in Alberta for the World Junior Hockey Championships.

Daniel Pribyl and Jarred Tinordi are both participating in their respective training camp.

With Team Canada’s camp already well underway, Brendan Gallagher, Nathan Beaulieu and Michaël Bournival’s chances of making the final roster are still alive and well after an initial wave of cuts were made to the group. While the Habs should be well represented in the tournament on Team Canada’s side, fans can also look out for Canadiens prospects to be lacing up for a few different countries as well.

In the OHL, the London Knights’ Jarred Tinordi will be among the 30 players invited to attend Team USA’s camp, set to take place in Camrose, Alberta between the 17th and 23rd of December. The Americans are scheduled to announce their final roster on December 22nd following exhibition games against Russian and Switzerland. The United States will be on a quest for a third consecutive medal finish at this year’s tournament after winning gold in 2010 and bronze in 2011.

The super-sized American defenseman has been enjoying an impressive season with the Knights. Known largely for his skills on the blueline, Tinordi has posted a plus-16 differential to date, good enough to rank 12th in that department in the OHL. He also has seven assists to his name over the season’s first 19 games.

On the Czech Republic’s side, the young Daniel Pribyl, newly acquired by the Habs in the 2011 entry draft, is expected to attend his country’s camp when it kicks off on December 17th. The 6-foot-3 forward currently plays in the Czech Extraliga for HC Sparta Praha, where he logged two goals over 15 games this season.
