Highlighting the list of Canadiens on the official fan voting ballot, Carey Price will be looking to make his third career All-Star game appearance this year. After being voted in as a starter for the 2009 midseason classic in Montreal before being named to the 2011 All-Star Game in Carolina, the 24-year-old netminder will be competing with the likes of Marc-Andre Fleury, Roberto Luongo and Nikolai Khabibulin for a starting role in the 2012 game in Ottawa.
A late addition to the SuperSkills event as a rookie last season, P.K. Subban finished second behind only Alex Ovechkin in the Breakaway Challenge. The Montreal fan-favorite worked the Carolina crowd into a frenzy, donning Hurricanes’ star Jeff Skinner’s jersey before showcasing some of his trademark puck skills against Fleury.
Joining Price and Subban on this year’s ballot, Tomas Plekanec and Michael Cammalleri are looking to make their first career All-Star Game appearances. After finishing first and second in team scoring, respectively, last season, the Habs snipers are up against fellow forward nominees Daniel Sedin, Corey Perry and Martin St. Louis, among others.
Voting begins on November 14 and closes on January 4, 2012.
