MONTREAL -- Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier issued Thursday a medical update on the status of forward Ryan White.
White underwent successful surgery yesterday to repair a sports hernia. He will be out indefinitely.
White, 23, suffered this injury during the team’s training camp last September. He has not participated in any preseason game, and missed the team’s first two regular season games.
White played 27 games for the Canadiens in 2010-11. He registered five points (2 goals, 3 assists), and 38 penalty minutes. He played in all seven playoff contests. With the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs, he registered 12 points (3 goals, 9 assists) and 77 penalty minutes in 33 regular season games.
