The Numbers Game - Jan. 15, 2011
MONTREAL - Here's a numerical look at the Canadiens-Rangers match-up at the Bell Centre on Saturday night.

201 – Combined height, in inches, of Brian Gionta, David Desharnais and Rangers forward Mats Zuccarello, all of whom are tied for second-shortest in the NHL at 5-foot-7; Buffalo’s Nathan Gerbe takes the honors as the most petite player in the league at 5-foot-5.

Highlights Canadiens - Rangers
6:06 – Elapsed time before the first whistle of the game with Rangers netminder Henrik Lundqvist smothering a Roman Hamrlik shot to signal the first faceoff following the opening puck drop.

16 – Number of goals that separates Marian Gaborik’s offensive output so far this season from that of the same time in 2009-10. By this point last year, the Rangers’ sniper had already potted 27 goals, compared to his current 11.

39 – Number of days since Hamrlik last lit the lamp for the Habs, notching his fourth goal of the season on a power play in the first period.

4 – Number of goals scored by Hamrlik so far this season, the highest of any Habs defenseman, pulling ahead of P.K. Subban and Alexandre Picard who both have three goals in 2010-11.

49 – Number of seconds needed by Tomas Plekanec to make Michael Sauer pay for his misbehaviour in the first period, depositing a perfect P.K. Subban feed past Lundqvist shortly after the Rangers’ blue-liner was sent off for tripping.

1 – Number of elated Belarusians celebrating on the ice after Andrei Kostitsyn fired home his 11th goal of the season and first in 10 games for the Habs.

9 – Number of games this season in which the Canadiens have scored at least two power play goals, posting a 6-1-2 record in those instances.

5 – Number of points racked up by James Wisniewski on the power-play since joining the Canadiens on Dec. 30. With 9 points in 8 games for the Habs, more than half were added with the man advantage including two in Saturday’s game.
