On the Rise - Jan. 12, 2011
MONTREAL -- While these Canadiens’ prospects may still be young, they continue to post impressive numbers with each of their respective teams. Here’s a small glimpse at the recent performances of some of the Habs’ brightest rising stars.

Mark MacMillan  (Penticton Vees – BCHL)

After nearly missing the entire month of September with a broken wrist, forward Mark MacMillan has launched himself head-first into his latest season since returning to game form. Averaging 1,4 points per game, MacMillan currently ranks among the leaders in the BCHL.

Since hitting the ice this season, MacMillan has enjoyed a streak of 12 consecutive games in which he’s scored at least one point, while also going on an eight-game goal streak as part of that sequence. Now fully recovered and playing at 100% MacMillan will be looking to help the Vees hold onto first place in their division in the BCHL.

Danny Kristo (University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux – WCHA)

Anyone can kick the season off on the wrong foot. It’s where you go from there that matters. Since getting his rocky start out of the way, Danny Kristo has been the raising eyebrows of his critics with vastly improved play. After racking up one goal and three assists over the course of his first 17 contests, the native of Eden Prairie, Minnesota has found his game and doesn’t appear to be slowing down.

Over the course of his last six games, the Canadiens’ prospect, drafted in the second round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, has amassed an impressive 10 points, scoring two goals and adding another eight helpers. During that stretch, Kristo also posted two three-point nights on Dec. 30 and Jan. 7. With his scoring touch back in place and 18 games left in the season, Kristo still stands to match his tally from last year when he registered 36 points in 41 games.
