Habs this week - Jan. 10, 2011
Canadiens @ Rangers – Tuesday, 11 January @ 7:00PM
Tuesday’s game will mark the first meeting of the season between the Canadiens and the Rangers. Jacques Martin’s troops reigned over the boys from the Big Apple in 2009-10, winning three of four matchups against the New York team.
The Habs also dominated the Rangers in scoring, potting 16 goals compared to the opposition’s 11. The Manhattan squad represented the Eastern Conference team the Habs lit the lamp most against last season with an average of four goals per game.
Canadiens vs. Penguins – Wednesday, 12 January @ 7:30PM
| Highlights of last Canadiens - Penguins game
While every other team in the National Hockey League had participated in at least one shootout since the beginning of the season, the Habs hadn’t had the opportunity before their Jan. 6 tilt against Dan Bylsma’s team. After tying up the game in the second period, Benoit Pouliot also made a bid for shootout goal of the year with a memorable move that sealed the win for the Habs.
Canadiens vs. Rangers – Saturday, January 15 @ 7:00PM
Whoever was responsible for crafting the NHL’s 2010-11 schedule seems to be partial to things that come in twos. After playing the Pittsburgh Penguins twice at home in the span of seven days, the Habs will get their second crack at the New York Rangers in the same week.
During their trip to the Bell Centre, watch for the Rangers to pay special attention to their Achilles heel, Michael Cammalleri, as the Habs’ elite sniper has enjoyed more success over the New York squad than any other team in the NHL. The speedy winger boasts an average of 1,43 goals per game against the Rangers, and last year managed to notch six goals and three assists in just three games versus the Blueshirts.
