Season-ending surgery for Josh Gorges
Gorges, who played 150 consecutive games for the Canadiens was forced to sit out the team’s last four matchups as a result of the injury. In 36 games this season, the Kelowna B.C. native had registered one goal and six assists. Gorges also recorded 79 blocked shots, good for 3rd among the Canadiens, as well as 55 checks, ranking him 5th on the team.
The 26-year-old defenseman also played a large part in the Canadiens’ success on the penalty-kill in 2010-11. While the Habs currently rank 1st in the NHL when down a man, Gorges was the most utilized player on the penalty-kill averaging 3 minutes 46 seconds of P.K. time per game.
