More stops than Santa
“This trip represents a big challenge for the team. Seven games on the road can be a really positive thing and a good chance for the team to build the win from last night,” explained Michael Cammalleri. “We’re planning on making the most of the trip, working hard and coming back home with as many points possible.”
For Max Pacioretty, the time spent travelling will be a great chance to get to know some of his new teammates better, while rekindling old friendships with others.
“Going on the road like this, I think is going to be the perfect thing for me right now. It’ll give me the opportunity to spend some time with the guys,” expressed the newest addition to the roster. “We still have time to bond when we’re playing at home, but most of these guys have families and need to spend time with them. I think the trip should be great for my game and great for the team on the whole.”
The young left-winger also pointed out that any lengthy two-week trip is automatically made easier with the privilege of NHL travel accommodations.
“It’ll be a lot easier on the body to actually travel on a plane,” joked Pacioretty who did most of his traveling by bus with the Bulldogs. “Instead of five hours on a bus, trips only end up being a couple of hours by plane. I’m really looking forward to it.”
While for some, the trip represents a chance to better get to know their team, others are quick to point out that team’s primary objective still remains to win hockey games.
“People like to say that this kind of trip is a good way to build camaraderie on the team. While that’s true, I think the place where this team builds the most camaraderie is on the ice,” mentioned Cammalleri. “We get more and more confidence in each other every time we step out onto the ice together and that’s key. On the road you play in all these other arenas that aren’t home – even if we have fans everywhere – but that kind of environment helps you trust one another even more.”
