Habs This Week \u2013 Dec. 6, 2010
MONTREAL – Up this week for the Habs: the neighbouring Senators pay a visit to the Bell Centre followed by a short road-trip for the home-team with stops in Detroit and Toronto.

Canadiens vs. Senators – Tuesday, December 7 @ 7:00 PM

The Canadiens and the Senators get ready to meet for the fourth time this season. During the first two months of NHL action, Jacques Martin’s squad has held out over their Ontario rivals, notching two wins and dropping only their last game against the Senators by a score of 3-2.

Having hit a rough patch in their season, the Senators have posted a 3-6-1 record over their last 10 games. Before their win against the Rangers last Saturday, the Senators had found themselves in the midst of a three-game skid that only ended thanks to the superb individual effort of Chris Kelly who scored all three goals for the Sens against New York. Contribution from Ottawa’s main offensive weapons has been scarce this season with the team’s top-scorer, captain Daniel Alfredsson recording 18 points in 28 games, while the Habs’ leading scorer, Tomas Plekanec has notched 25 points in 26 games.

Canadiens @ Red Wings – Friday, December 10 @ 7:00 PM

Look for the Canadiens to make their annual Motown visit this Friday to take on the Red Wings. The matchup should represent a sizeable challenge for the Habs who will find themselves stacking up against the current Western Conference front-runners. The Red Wings have only suffered a single loss in regulation time thus far in the 2010-11 season.

The game will mark only the fourth time in the last decade that the Canadiens and the Red Wings have squared off on American soil, with the teams having split those games, winning two apiece at Joe Louis Arena. The Habs have played seven games this season against Western Conference adversaries, winning four of those contests while losing the other three.

Canadiens @ Maple Leafs – Saturday, December 11 @ 7:00 PM

After facing off against the Red Wings, it’s back across the border for Jacques Martin and his team as they head to Toronto to take on the Maple Leafs for their second game in 24 hours. While the Wings may be tops in the West, it’s another story altogether for the Leafs. After a rocky first third of the 2010-11 season, the Toronto team currently sits in 13th place in the East, and dead-last in the North-Eastern Division.

Carey Price represented the difference-maker in the last duel between the clubs, with the Canadiens’ star netminder stopping every one of the 30 shots that Toronto threw his way for his second shutout that week. The Maple Leafs offence has fallen off the charts over their last five games, with the team getting shutout twice while averaging only 1.4 goals per game.
