Habs this week - Nov. 15, 2010
Canadiens vs. Flyers – Tuesday, November 16 @ 7:00pm
After putting an end to the Canadiens’ surprising playoff run of 2010, the Flyers are back at the Bell Centre to challenge Jacques Martin’s squad. The Habs have been on a hot-streak of late and will be gunning for their fourth straight win.
One piece of good news facing the Canadiens in this matchup is that 29-year-old Flyers’ goaltender Michael Leighton, responsible for shutting-out the Habs three times in last year’s conference finals, is listed as injured and won’t be part of the action. Taking his place will be the young Sergei Bobrovsky. The 22-year-old netminder is currently lighting up the league with a 10-2-1 record. With a goals-against-average of only 1,6 in his last five games, count on him looking to make life difficult for Montreal on Tuesday.
Canadiens vs. Predators – Thursday, November 18 @ 7:30pm
They may not be the most well-known team in the league but the Predators will be bringing some familiar face with them to take on the Canadiens Thursday night. The game will mark the return to Montreal of former Habs’ defenseman, Francis Bouillon, who played for nine seasons with the club.
Thursday night will also see the first encounter of the Kostitsyn brothers, now on opposing teams after Sergei was traded to Nashville over the summer. While Sergei has been struggling in Nashville, posting a -4 rating and scoring only three points in 11 games, the 2010-11 season had been much brighter for brother Andrei who’s racked up 13 points in his first 17 games of the year.
Canadiens vs. Maple Leafs – Saturday, November 20 @ 7:00pm
The Habs take on the Maple Leafs Saturday night at the Bell Centre, marking their fourth consecutive home-game. What better way to end a long home-stand than by notching a win against the club’s legendary rival? The Canadiens will be aiming to even the score between the teams after dropping the season’s first game to the Leafs on Oct. 7.
Sitting thirteenth in the Eastern conference, the Maple Leafs have fallen on hard times as of late, going winless in their last eight games, while the Habs occupy third place.
