The Notebook - Oct. 16, 2010
MONTREAL -- In today's notebook, Price gets the call, Picard faces his former team and Gorges gets his offense on.

Freedom of choice: Following his team's 2-1 win in Buffalo on Friday night, Jacques Martin decided to make Saturday's pre-game skate optional. Opting-in for the practice led by goalie coach Pierre Groulx were Alex Auld, Ryan O'Byrne, Mathieu Darche and Andrei Markov.

"We will make a decision before the game if we want to make any changes to the lineup," explained the Habs' head coach. "But Carey Price will be our goaltender tonight."

Two sides of the story: Having a little inside info on the opponent never hurts, which could be part of the reason former Sen Alexandre Picard will be back in the lineup to face his former team on Saturday night.

"Go to a Senators game in Ottawa and you'll see how fast the Canadiens fans take over the place," recalled the Gatineau native with a grin. "The Sens have a good fan base, but the CH has a special place in the hearts of Quebecers, 'Ottawans' and Canadians."

Scoring big: Known for his solid play in his own zone, defenseman Josh Gorges woke up Saturday morning in the Top 10 in the league in points by a blue-liner. The 26-year-old who had 10 points in 82 games last year has already racked up three points so far, including the game-winner in Friday's match-up.
