Rookie camp - Day 3
BROSSARD – With the official training camp only a few days away, the atmosphere at the Montreal Canadiens rookie camp is already beginning to reach a fever-pitch.

Room to Grow: Returning to the Habs rookie camp having added 10 pounds of muscle and taken the summer to reflect on last season, Max Pacioretty is all about positive thinking. The left winger touched on the pros and cons of practicing with both Hamilton and Montreal and about how his best hockey is still yet to come.

“It was a bit tough to go back to Hamilton, but it helped me work on becoming stronger mentally," explained Pacioretty, who played 52 games with the Habs in 2009-10. "In Montreal you practice with better players, but in Hamilton you get to play more minutes, so I’ve been learning to make the best of both situations. I’m only 21, and my game’s still improving. I managed to impress them a lot at camp last year, and I’ll be trying even harder to impress them this time around.”

One Year Later: Last year, Phillipe Lefebvre arrived at the Canadiens’ rookie camp as the only young player invited as a try-out. Today, while he’s still a long way from being considered a veteran, he’s just as happy to offer some advice to the players who find themselves in the same position he was one year ago.

“Right now I’m sharing a room with Jonathan Brunelle. We played together in Drummondville, and this year he was invited to rookie camp for a try-out. Yesterday he asked me about how it worked out for me last year,” explained Lefebvre. “I told him I wish all the guys here on a try-out this year the same success I was lucky enough to enjoy.”

The Name of The Game: Andrew Conboy is using his time at rookie camp to continue adding skill and substance to his already imposing size and grit. After playing his first full season with the Hamilton Bulldogs in 2009-10, he’s making the most of him time in Montreal.

“That’s the name of the game,” Conboy grinned when asked about returning to Hamilton for another season. “Of course I’m going to continue working hard no matter what, with the goal of working my way back here. Right now I’m just concentrating on rookie camp and trying to work out any kinks and injuries so I'm ready for the main camp.”
