Bulldogs report - March 24, 2010
MONTREAL -- Changing addresses after a trade is one of the hardest things a young hockey player has to do during a season, but it gets a while lot easier when he’s got an old buddy waiting to welcome him with open arms.

Since joining the Bulldogs at the trade deadline on March 3, Aaron Palushaj has seen his fortunes turn upside down. Literally. Coming from the lowly Peoria Rivermen to the Western Conference’s top-ranked Bulldogs, the 20-year-old couldn’t have landed in a more comfortable spot. Palushaj may still be getting used to his new surroundings in Hamilton, but the young winger has had a little help acclimatizing to his new digs from former Michigan teammate – and former roommate – Max Pacioretty.

From the moment Palushaj landed in Steel Town, Pacioretty has made it his mission to show him the ropes and help him feel like one of the guys. But helping his old buddy get settled didn’t end there – he also helped him nab his first point as a Bulldog. On March 6, the two former Wolverines combined to set the table for Ryan White, who notched the ‘Dogs’ first goal of the game.

In his first full season as a pro, Palushaj has suited up for nine games with his new ‘mates, racking up one goal and four assists in that span and bringing his season total to 27 points in 53 games on the campaign.

Prior to this year, the Michigan native played eight games with the Rivermen, including four playoff match-ups after the Wolverines had been eliminated from the postseason. Palushaj spent two years skating for his alma mater and collecting 94 points in 82 games in a Michigan jersey before making the jump to the pro ranks, drafted 44th overall by the Blues in 2007.

With the transition fully complete and Palushaj feeling snug as a bug in Hamilton, he’s looking to spend a lot more time there this spring.
