Bulldogs Report \u2013 March 17, 2010
MONTREAL – It’s a done deal. Last Saturday, the Hamilton Bulldogs clinched their spot in the AHL postseason.

With 13 games still left on the schedule, the Bulldogs have already punched their ticket to the playoffs. Now with the official “x” beside his team’s name in the standings, Guy Boucher is set to become just the fourth rookie coach in franchise history to guide the ‘Dogs to the springtime dance.

With the record-setting season they’ve been enjoying down in Hamilton this year, making it into the playoffs is just another check off the Bulldogs’ growing to-do list. Next up on the docket: topping the 110 point benchmark previously set by the 2002-03 edition of the club.

After enjoying a 10-game stint in the friendly confines of Copps Coliseum, the ‘Dogs will hit the road for the next two weeks for a seven game road swing. During the trip, the Bulldogs will faceoff on consecutive nights against the ninth-ranked Manitoba Moose at the MTS Centre. The Moose are currently sitting just one point out of the playoffs and will be scratching and clawing their way to every point they can get their hooves on.

Another set of back-to-back games on the road awaits the ‘Dogs on March 26 and 27 when they travel to Abbotsford to take on the Heat. With the Heat among a cluster of teams battling for the last few playoff spots in the North Division, these two games could be a first-round playoff preview for the Bulldogs.

Assured of making the AHL playoffs for the eleventh time in their 14-year existence, the Bulldogs are gunning for another Calder Cup and remain in the running for their first regular season crown since 2002-03 and 2003-04.

It’s shaping up to be a season to remember for the Bulldogs – and likely one to forget for the rest of the AHL.
