Habs this week - March 15, 2010
Canadiens @ Rangers – Tuesday, March 16 @ 7:00 p.m.
Judging by the previous match-ups between these two Original 6 teams this season, offense will be the name of the game on Tuesday night. Snipers have surfaced for both teams in their three games so far, with the Habs enjoying 6-0 and 5-4 decisions, and the Rangers posting a lop-sided 6-2 win of their own at Madison Square Garden.
Carrying a five-game win streak into Tuesday’s game, the Canadiens are the NHL’s team du jour. Over the course of their current league-leading sequence, the streaking Habs have also posted some impressive individual numbers. Andrei Markov leads the ways with nine points in his last six outings, Benoit Pouliot is riding a five game point streak which includes six points and Sergei Kostitsyn has been on fire of late with three goals and an assist in his last two games.
Canadiens @ Maple Leafs – Saturday, March 20 @ 7:00 p.m.
The Canadiens take on their longtime rivals in Toronto on Saturday night, set to battle it out with the NHL’s bottom-feeding team. The Leafs rarely let a chance to play the spoiler pass them by and will likely be looking to fill that role again this weekend. Whichever team does come out on the losing end will have a chance for revenge three weeks later, as the Habs will close out 2009-10 with another heated tilt against the Leafs at the Bell Centre next month.
