Habs this week - March 8, 2010
MONTREAL – With six of a possible eight points to show for their recent road swing, the Canadiens have been putting their recent rest from the Olympic break to good use.  Now the Habs are back home in the friendly confines of the Bell Centre looking to rack up some four-point wins against some Eastern conference rivals.

Canadiens vs. Lightning – Tuesday March 9 @ 7:30 p.m.

Nothing says springtime in Montreal quite like the annual return of the snowbirds from the shores of sunny Florida. Returning from their annual pilgrimage south, though, the Quebec natives won’t be heading home alone – they’ll be joined by the Lightning who will be hitting up the Bell Centre on Tuesday night.

Despite sitting at No. 11 in the East, the Bolts shouldn’t be taken lightly during their last trip to Montreal this season. With three games in hand on the Habs and just five points separating them from the Canadiens, Martin St. Louis, Vincent Lecavalier and Steven Stamkos will be throwing everything but the kitchen sink at the home team, hoping to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Canadiens vs. Oilers – Thursday March 11 @ 7:00 p.m.

Thursday will mark the Habs’ last game of the season against a Western conference opponent, leaving 13 key games against conference rivals up for grabs. It will also be a chance for Montreal to pick up a “W” against the NHL’s worst team, which has managed to rack up a paltry 48 points in 65 games so far.

The match-up will make exactly 366 days since the Oilers last stepped foot at the Bell Centre dating back to Montreal’s 4-3 overtime win over Edmonton. While the Habs will continue to soldier on without Michael Cammalleri and former Oiler Marc-Andre Bergeron, the visitors will be without captain Ethan Moreau and assistant captains Ales Hemsky and Sheldon Souray.

Canadiens vs Bruins – Saturday, March 13

For the sixth and final time of the season, the Habs and Bruins will meet once again. The Canadiens will be gunning for their fifth win over the B’s of 2009-10 and hoping to build on the momentum form their 4-1 win in Boston last week.

Claude Julien’s squad will be likely limping into Montreal without star centerman Marc Savard, who is sidelined following a concussion he suffered at the hands of the Penguins Matt Cooke on a vicious hit to head over the weekend.
