Habs this week - March 1, 2010
MONTREAL – After a 17-day layoff, the Habs are all set to get back to work.

Sitting in eighth in the Eastern conference with just 19 games left to play, the Canadiens head south for a quartet of games behind enemy lines – the second-longest road trip of the campaign.

Canadiens vs Bruins – Tuesday March 2 @ 7:00 p.m.

With just one point separating the seventh-place Bruins from the Canadiens in the standings, the fifth meeting between the two bitter rivals promises to be even more heated than usual. Montreal has the edge on the series so far this year, coming out on top of three of the four games they’ve played to date. The B’s will make their way to la Belle Province on March 13 for their sixth and final matchup against the Habs before the postseason.

Between the pipes, Carey Price hasn’t been kind to the Bruins throughout his career, owning an 8-2-2 all-time record and 2.51 goals-against average against Boston.

Canadiens vs Sharks – Thursday March 4 @ 10:30

The Canadiens hit up the Schwarzenegger State for the first time since 2007-08, kicking off the trip along the coast in sunny San Jose. Northern California hasn’t been the Habs’ favorite destination over the years, having dropped all four of their games at the HP Pavillion in the past decade. The last time Montreal won in the Shark Tank was November 23, 1999, when Craig Rivet played the hero by notching the OT-winner.

Travis Moen will be suiting up against his former team for the first time, having piled up five points in 25 games during his brief stint as a Shark after being traded by Anaheim late last year.

Canadiens vs Kings – Saturday March 6 @ 10:00 p.m.

The Canadiens will be looking to register a third straight win over the Kings for the first time since 1986-87. In fact, since 2001, the Habs have lost only once in seven tries against Los Angeles.

And if you’re looking to show off and stump your buddies this week, ask them which current Habs player boasts the most career points against the Kings. That would be none other than Paul Mara, who has 17 points in 29 games against L.A.

Canadiens vs Ducks – Sunday, March 7 @ 8:00 p.m.

Prior to heading home for a three-game stretch at the Bell Centre, the Canadiens will make one last stop in Anaheim. The game will mark the first time Saku Koivu will face his former mates, with the Finnish centerman boasting 33 points in 52 games with his new team. The Habs will look to end their three-game losing skid against the Ducks in hopes of improving their 9-7-2 lifetime mark against Anaheim.
