Habs Notebook - Nov. 27, 2009
Enough already: While Jaroslav Spacek could be back in action as early as Saturday, another player is nearing his return. On the ice at practice with his teammates for the first time since suffering a concussion against the Blackhawks on October 30, Matt D'Agostini was all smiles on Friday morning.
"It feels great to be back on the ice with the guys. It feels like I'm a part of the group again. I'm ready for a full practice with contact now," explained the right winger, who is hoping to get back into action next week.
UFC training: Near the end of practice on Friday morning, a spat between Josh Gorges and Mike Cammalleri drew some attention but the pair was laughing about it in the dressing room when it was all said and done.
"We play a contact sport and I'm sure you've all seen that before. It happens every once in a while and it's normal. Max said he's so strong that he had no problem separating us," said Cammalleri of Maxim Lapierre who was the peacekeeper.
"I don't know who started it, but I remember I called him ugly and he got pretty upset, so he called me fat. Something like that,” joked Gorges. “Seriously though, we talked about having an intense practice and that’s the kind of intensity we need to have in our next game.”
Head coach Jacques Martin completely agrees with his young defenseman. “I think it’s a good thing. We just have to make sure we have that kind of fire in the game against Washington.”
Price tips his Cap: Just one week removed from his last meeting with the Capitals, Carey Price summed up what he’s expecting when Ovechkin and Co. roll into the Bell Centre this weekend.
“Their offense is strong. They’re right up there at the top of the East. Our D is going to have to be really solid against them. I don’t know what they’ll have to do, but I know that every time Ovechkin is on the ice, they need to focus on him and be aware,” advised the nimble netminder, who snuffed out all five of Ovechkin’s chances in a 3-2 win last Friday night.
