The Numbers Game - Oct. 22, 2009
MONTREAL – Here's a numerical look at the Canadiens 5-1 romp over the Islanders at the Bell Centre on Thursday night.

3 – Number of 2009 first-round picks who have returned to the Bell Centre for the first time since the draft in the past two weeks. Avalanche forward Matt Duchesne and Thrashers forward Evander Kane started the trend on the 15th and 20th respectively, followed by first-overall selection John Tavares with the Islanders on Thursday night.

5 – Shots on goal fired by Brian Gionta in the first period alone, finishing with a game-high six on the night.

540 – Number of players who have recorded at least one point in a Canadiens uniform since 1909, including Marc-Andre Bergeron, who became the latest to add his name to that list after blasting a shot past Martin Biron on the power play in the second period.

6
– Consecutive number of games against the Islanders in which the Habs have picked up at least one point, owning a 4-0-2 record over the Isles over that span.

2
– Number of times in his three games so far this season in which Glen Metropolit has finished with two points, chipping in with a pair of helpers in his return to the ice on Thursday night.

43
– Number of pucks fired by the Canadiens in Biron’s direction, outshooting the Isles 43-22 in the game.

1.33 – Jaroslav Halak’s goals-against average in four career games versus the Islanders, his best average against any team in the NHL.
