Canadiens sign netminder Curtis Sanford to a one-year contract
PRESS RELEASE

MONTREAL – Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced Monday the signing of goaltender Curtis Sanford to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2009-10 season. As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Over the past two seasons, Sanford posted an 11-11-1 record with a 2.69 goals-against average, one shutout and a .903 save percentage in 35 regular-season games with the Vancouver Canucks. The 5-10, 187-pound goalie also played 16 regular-season games with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose in 2008-09 and was credited with a 7-3-3 record, a 1.73 goals-against average, two shutouts and a .936 save percentage.

Since 2002-03, the 29-year-old compiled a 37-37-16 record with a .901 save percentage, five shutouts and a 2.76 goals-against average in 108 regular-season NHL contests, with St. Louis and Vancouver.

A native of Owen Sound, Ontario, Sanford made his professional debut in 1999-00 with the UHL’s Missouri River Otters and took part in the ECHL All-Star game in 2001-2002.
