Iron Man moves on
An assistant coach with 18 years of NHL experience under his belt, including four with the Canadiens, Jarvis put his savvy to good use in Montreal. Winner of four Stanley Cups over his seven seasons with the Habs as a gritty defensive forward, Jarvis put his penalty killing knowledge to good use by constructing the Canadiens’ lethal power-play in recent seasons.
With Jarvis drawing up the X’s and O’s, the Habs boasted the NHL’s top power-play for two years running in 2006-07 and 2007-08, a franchise first for the Canadiens. In so doing, the Habs became only the fifth team in league history to manage the feat.
Jarvis’ coaching pedigree includes 14 seasons as assistant with the Minnesota North Stars/Dallas Stars, and two seasons as head coach with the Canadiens’ AHL affiliate in Hamilton, before he joined the Habs in 2005.
