Canadiens recall Doug Janik from the Hamilton Bulldogs
MONTREAL – The Montreal Canadiens announced Monday that defenseman Doug Janik has been recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.
Janik, acquired from the Dallas Stars on February 26, registered five points (five assists), 10 penalty minutes and posted a plus-4 rating in 17 games with the Bulldogs this season. Before joining the Canadiens' AHL affiliate, Janik, 29, played in 13 games games with the Stars in 2008-09, collecting one point (one assist) and two penalty minutes.
He also played in four games with the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs (0-2-2).
Drafted in the second round by the Buffalo Sabres, 55th overall in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Janik (6-foot-2, 211 pounds) amassed 16 points (three goals, 13 assists) and served 121 penalty minutes in 159 NHL career games with Buffalo, Tampa Bay and Dallas.
