The rebirth of Pleky
MONTREAL- There’s no question that Tomas Plekanec is loving life these days. It’s crazy what a difference a month can make.

While sputtering through the first half of the season, Plekanec had many - himself included - wondering where it all went wrong. Coming off a breakthrough season that saw him pile career highs across the board, Plekanec expected to pick up where he left off in 2007-08. With his production slashed in half, the odds of the Czech centerman even coming close to his previous numbers were slim. That is until recently as Plekanec has caught fire once again.

“I always try to be honest with myself.  There’s nobody else out there who can put the kind of pressure on me that I put on myself,” vowed Plekanec. “I know how I can play and how things should go for me and for our team and I’m happy that the last couple of games it’s gone the way we were hoping it would.”

Talk about an understatement. With 10 points in his last six games, Plekanec has led the way offensively for Habs. Recent results also indicate that the once mighty line of Plekanec, Alex Kovalev and Andrei Kostitsyn is heating up at the right time.

“I just hope it’s going to keep going like that,” said Plekanec of his line’s resurgence. “We haven’t had the best season together so far, but the last couple of games for us have been better and hopefully we keep rolling.”

With his name popping up in different rumor every other day this season, Plekanec has had to develop a thick skin.

“At one point when you find out that it’s not just a rumor, it’s true, obviously you think about it and the Trade Deadline isn’t the easiest day of the hockey season,” confided Plekanec. “In the end, you can’t spend your days thinking about that; you have to just play your game and see what happens. You never know what’s going to happen. I just know how happy I am in Montreal and that I love playing here.”
