Habs recall Pacioretty, Chipchura
MONTREAL – The Montreal Canadiens announced Friday that forwards Max Pacioretty and Kyle Chipchura have been recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.
In his first AHL season, Max Pacioretty is the team’s third leading scorer with 20 points (three goals, 17 assists) in 26 games. The 20-year-old left-winger earned Rookie of the Year honors the last two seasons, with the USHL’s Sioux City Musketeers in 2006-07 and the CCHA’s University of Michigan Wolverines in 2007-08. Pacioretty was a Canadiens first round selection, 22nd overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Kyle Chipchura, 22, leads the Bulldogs with a plus-14 rating. The centreman and team captain scored 20 points (nine goals, 11 assist) in 23 AHL games this season. Chipchura, who played one game this season with the Canadiens (Oct. 20 vs. Florida), led the Bulldogs to their first-ever Calder Cup Championship in 2007. Chipchura was selected by the Canadiens in the first round (18th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Pacioretty and Chipchura will join the team Saturday in Pittsburgh
