Habs Notebook: Nov. 14, 2008
“We need a spark,” Guy Carbonneau said. “We need some consistency in goal as we do up front or on the blue line. We won’t win too many games if we give four, five or six goals.”
Komo a no-go: After a fierce fight with Milan Lucic on Thursday night, Mike Komisarek will be out of the lineup on Saturday. While it’s never fun losing one of his top defenders, Carbonneau had no problem with the rearguard dropping his gloves.
“Mike was fed up with what was happening on the ice and he was trying to light a spark. No matter what you do on the ice, there’s always an injury risk. I have no problem with him having fought. Now someone will have to pick up their play while he’s out.”
The newest type of injury: It’s no secret that teams do their best to hide the real nature of a player’s injury. With Sergei Kostitsyn absent from Friday’s practice, the Habs’ head coach was once again questioned whether it was an “upper or lower body injury.”
“It’s a body injury. Last night, we were hurt emotionally but Sergei has a body injury, upper body. We’ll only know Saturday before the game if he’s good to go.”
