Habs notebook: rookie camp
MONTREAL - With the Canadiens’ rookie camp getting underway, here are a few stories and fresh faces to keep your eye on.

Fab five:  Five Canadiens draftees will be making their NHL rookie camp debuts, including 2008 first pick Danny Kristo.  Others getting their feet wet this week: Max Pacioretty, who will be in the spotlight after opting to go pro at just 19 years old; Joe Stejskal, Jason Missiaen, and 2004 draft choice James Wyman.  All will be among nearly two dozen freshmen looking to get an invite to the Habs’ main camp, opening on September 19.

Favorable first impression:  Three QMJHL players will be looking to catch the eyes of Canadiens management.  Forward Alexandre Monahan (Victoriaville) and goaltenders Robert Mayer (Saint John) and Nicola Riopelle (Moncton) have all been invited on a tryout, and will be aiming to leave a lasting impression among the rest of the Habs’ prospects.

Measuring up:  Not unlike Laurel and Hardy, two players with two very different builds will take to the Bell Centre ice on Monday.  Goaltender Jason Missiaen, the Canadiens’ fourth round pick back in June, will literally stand out from the crowd as the tallest recruit at 6-foot-8, while David Desharnais finds himself at the other end of the chart as the smallest player at camp at 5-foot-6.
