That was quick
On Thursday night at the Bell Centre, Tom Kostopoulos became the latest Canadiens OT hero to strike in a hurry by sealing a 4-3 Habs win only 48 seconds into the fourth period. By beating Martin Biron with the game-winner so early, Kostopoulos scored the sixth-fastest postseason OT goal in Canadiens history.
Fastest playoff OT goals in Habs history
Besides Skrudland and Kostopoulos, five other Habs have managed to end a playoff OT game in less than 60 seconds. Among them are teammates Eric Desjardins (:51) and John LeClair (:34), both of whom did so during the Canadiens’ record-breaking Stanley Cup run in the spring of 1993, which saw Montreal win an unprecedented 10 consecutive overtime games.
