Canadiens unveil their new RbK EDGE uniforms
LAVAL-SUR-LE-LAC – At the team’s annual golf tournament held Tuesday, the Montreal Canadiens unveiled their new Rbk EDGE uniforms for the upcoming 2007-08 season. Players attending the event donned the home red jersey for a photo opportunity.
The new Canadiens uniform, like all 29 other NHL teams, features the Rbk EDGE Uniform System technology. The team will don its red home jersey for the first time on September 17 when the Pittsburgh Penguins will visit the Bell Centre while the white away jersey will first be worn on September 19, in Moncton, NB,when the New York Islanders will host the Canadiens.
One of the most recognizable jerseys in professional sports, the Canadiens jersey retains its traditional identity. The color scheme and overall appearance remain unchanged. The most significant change is located in the collar area, where one of the two blue lines has been removed, while an NHL logo was added.
The Rbk EDGE Uniform System was introduced at the NHL’s 55th All-Star Game in Dallas last January 24. On that occasion, Canadiens representative Cristobal Huet had the opportunity to wear the innovative uniform system.
“It’s a huge improvement”, said Huet. “It’s so much lighter and from my perspective it helps keep me drier. I really like it.”
The Canadiens new Rbk EDGE jersey will be on sale exclusively at the Canadiens Bell Centre team store from September 14 to 21. Furthermore, fans can also pre-order their Canadiens Rbk EDGE jersey on the Canadiens’ Web site at www.canadiens.com starting September 4, 2007. Order forms will also be available at the Bell Centre.
