Habs, Ryder avoid arbitration
MONTREAL – Canadiens GM Bob Gainey, announced Sunday the signing of right winger Michael Ryder to a one-year contract for the 2007-08 season. As per club policy, financial terms of the agreements will not be disclosed.
With this signing, all Canadiens players are now under contract for the 2007-08 season.
In 2006-07, Ryder took part in all 82 games with the Canadiens, tallying a team-high 30 goals and adding 28 assists for a total of 58 points, and 60 penalty minutes.
Hailing from Bonavista, Newfoundland, Ryder has recorded 176 points in 244 NHL regular season games since he made his NHL debut in 2003-04 (85 goals, 91 assists). In three full seasons in the NHL, the 27-year-old has only missed two games due to injuries.
Ryder was selected in the eighth round by the Canadiens (216th overall) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
