Spotlight on Guillaume Latendresse: Pt. 1

A 16-goal scorer in his rookie campaign with the Canadiens, Guillaume Latendresse is celebrating his 20th birthday this week. Get to know a bit more about the Habs' young power forward.

Which team's defense is the hardest to play against? That's a good question.  Of all the team's I've played against, I'd say Zdeno Chara in Boston.

What are the differences and similarities in the styles of play between you and your brother?  Probably the biggest difference is the size.  My brother is 5-foot-10 and 200 lbs and I'm 6-foot-2, 230 lbs, so that's the main difference really.  We play similar styles.  He's now a bit stronger on the puck and a bit more physical and I think that helps his game.

What's your favorite TV show? I've got a few but I'm especially a fan of reality tv.  I really like those shows.

Besides hockey, what other sports do you enjoy playing? When I was young, I used to play a lot of sports.  Now, the only time I really have to play other sports is in the summer so I play golf, like everybody else. (laughs)

You're a scorer being coached by a former defensive forward.  Has there been any significant change in your game?  Not really.  Carbo's a defensive coach but he lets players who have an offensive upside let their imaginations go, so that helps us too.

Of the goals you've scored, do you have favorite?  I didn't have a lot of goals this year but of those, I'd have to say the one against Tampa Bay at the start of the season.

Aside from Montreal, what's been your favorite city to play in and why? I'd say New York City.  We spent a few extra days there when we went there in March so we had free time in the city.

What's the toughest part about being an NHL player?  Probably all the traveling.  It seems like we're always between planes.
