Canadiens make first cuts
Twelve players headed to Hamilton, while three others return to junior


Matt D'Agostini was one of 15 players cut from the Canadiens' training camp on Thursday.

MONTREAL - Canadiens GM Bob Gainey announced Thursday that 12 players have been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. Three players have been returned to their respective junior team.

Thirty-eight (38) players are still at training camp, including three injured players (Francis Bouillon, Jean-Philippe Côté, Mikhail Grabovski).

The 12 players who will report to Hamilton are: goaltender Cdrick Desjardins, forwards Michal Lambert, Mathieu Aubin, Matt D'Agostini, Eric Manlow, Duncan Milroy, Gregory Stewart, Cory Urquhart, Jimmy Bonneau and Francis Lemieux (injured), as well as defensemen Jon Gleed and Andrew Archer (injured). The Bulldogs will start their training camp on September 23 in Hamilton.

Forwards Ben Maxwell (Kootenay - WHL) and Sergei Kostitsyn (London - OHL) as well as defenseman Mathieu Carle (Acadie-Bathurst - QMJHL) will report to their respective junior clubs.
