Lapierre called up from Hamilton
MONTREAL - Canadiens GM Bob Gainey announced Monday that forward Maxim Lapierre has been recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.
Lapierre, 21, played in 73 games with the Bulldogs in 2005-06, recording 13 goals and 23 assists for a total of 36 points. Before his recall, he had posted a plus/minus rating of 0 and had totalled 214 penalty minutes.
Lapierre, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound center, will be making his second trip to Montreal this season. Called up on Nov. 14, the St. Léonard native played his first NHL game the following evening against the Florida Panthers, at the Bell Centre. He was assigned to Hamilton on November 19.
Lapierre, the Canadiens' second round, 61st overall, selection in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, signed a three-year contract with the Canadiens on July 28, 2005.
