Cote assigned to Hamilton

MONTREAL – Canadiens GM Bob Gainey announced Thursday that defenseman Jean-Philippe Côté has been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.
Côté, 23, had two separate stints with the Canadiens and played in a total of eight games this season, going pointless while earning four penalty minutes. He registered a plus/minus rating of plus-2.
In Hamilton, the 6-foot-3, 207-pound Quebec City native played in 32 games, collecting one goal, three assists and 63 penalty minutes.
Côté was signed as a free agent on August 19, 2004.
