Kostitsyn called up from Hamilton


Andrei Kostitsyn was riding a five-game point streak with
the Bulldogs, with a goal and seven assists over that span.

MONTREAL - Canadiens GM Bob Gainey announced Thursday that right-winger Andrei Kostitsyn has been called up from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. Kostitsyn will be in uniform on Thursday night when the Canadiens take on the Buffalo Sabres at the Bell Centre.

Kostitsyn, 20, has 16 points, including five goals in 24 games so far this season with the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs. The Belarus native is riding a five-game point streak with the Bulldogs, with a goal and seven assists over that span.

In a 4-3 loss against the Manitoba Moose on Wednesday night, Kostitsyn scored the lone shootout goal for the Bulldogs. His best performance this season came on November 26, when he picked up a goal and three assists in a 6-5 win over the Grand Rapids Griffins.

In 66 games last season with the Bulldogs, Kostitsyn had 12 goals and  23 points. The 6-foot, 200-pounder was the Canadiens top pick, 10th overall at 2003 NHL draft.
