Hal Gill heading to Montreal
MONTREAL -- Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced Wednesday the signing of defenceman Hal Gill to a two-year contract (2009-10 to 2010-11). As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Last season, Gill, 34, played in 62 games with the Stanley Cup Champions Pittsburgh Penguins. He registered 10 points (2 goals, 8 assists), amassed 53 penalty minutes with a +11 plus/minus rating and an average ice time of 17:53 minutes.
The Concord, Massachusetts native will be entering his 13th NHL season in 2009-10. He played in a total of 851 career regular season games in the NHL with Boston, Toronto and Pittsburgh recording 151 points (31 goals, 120 assists), served 800 penalty minutes and is a +69 plus/minus rating. Gill played 80 NHL career playoff games.
The 6’7’’, 250-pound defenceman was an 8th round selection by the Bruins, 207th overall in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft.
