The longtime heart and soul of the Canadiens, Saku Koivu continued to lead the way in 2007-08. Here’s a numerical look back at the season that was for the Habs' captain.

8-Koivu’s rank on the Habs’ all-time assist list, with his 416 career helpers leaving him only seven back of Maurice Richard at No. 7.

5-Spots on the Canadiens’ all-time points list climbed by Koivu in 2007-08 to find himself at No. 13 with 591 career points, only three back of Dickie Moore at No. 12.

5-Shootout goals scored by Koivu to lead the Canadiens for the second straight year.

701-Regular-season faceoffs won by Koivu to lead the Canadiens for a fifth straight season.

9-Years and counting that Koivu has worn the “C” for the Canadiens, second only in team history to legendary Jean Beliveau’s 10-year reign as Habs captain.

5-Consecutive seasons with 55 or more points for Koivu, making him the first Habs player to do so since teammates Mats Naslund and Bobby Smith in the late 1980s.

1- Finnish players who notched more regular season points than Koivu’s 56-point harvest in 2007-08, with only Olli Jokinen finishing ahead of him with 71 points.

7-Length in games of Koivu’s ongoing playoff point streak, with the Habs’ captain having racked up three goals and six assists over that span.
