Eastern Conference Finals: Game 6
Rangers lead 3-2
On Thursday night, the Habs will attempt to force Game 7 with a win at Madison Square Garden.
Facing elimination in Game 5 at the Bell Centre, the Habs chased Henrik Lundqvist from his crease and won convincingly, 7-4. Rene Bourque became the first player in four years to score a playoff hat trick for the Canadiens with three goals on four shots. Alex Galchenyuk, Tomas Plekanec, Max Pacioretty and David Desharnais were the other scorers for Montreal.
Down 4-1 in the second period, the Rangers temporarily made a game of it by scoring three times in five minutes. However, Bourque scored his second goal of the night on a partial breakaway just 58 seconds after Chris Kreider tied the game on a powerplay. Also lighting the lamp for the Rangers were Derek Stepan (twice) and Rick Nash.
The Rangers’ John Moore may receive supplemental discipline for his late hit against Dale Weise on Tuesday night. Moore received a five-minute major and a game misconduct on the play.
The Habs have gone 3-0 this spring when facing elimination and will need to win two more do-or-die games in order to make the Stanley Cup finals.
Puck drop will be at 8:00PM E.S.T.
