RUSSIA 1-3 FINLAND

Tuukka Rask made 37 saves and ended Russia’s Olympic dreams with a 3-1 win. Despite the host team out-shooting the Finns 38-22, Ilya Kovalchuk was the lone Russian scorer. Teemu Selanne, Juhamatti Aaltonen and Mikael Grandlund replied for Team Finland, who will next play Sweden in a semifinal matchup.

Andrei Markov had two shots on goal in 17:16 on the ice. Alexei Emelin played 14:07 and had one shot on net.

UNITED STATES 5-2 CZECH REPUBLIC

Team USA jumped to a 3-1 first period lead and held on the rest of the way to eliminate the Czechs by a score of 5-2. Ales Hemsky, who scored twice, was the lone shooter to beat Jonathan Quick.

Max Pacioretty had one shot on net in 11:14 played. Tomas Plekanec had 17:28 in ice time and two shots on net.

CANADA 2-1 LATVIA

The Latvians, coached by Ted Nolan, fought to the finish against the Canadians. It took a whopping 54 shots for Shea Weber to finally give his team a lead, which it would not relinquish. At the final buzzer, the shot count was 57-16 in favour of Canada.

A stern test awaits the red-and-white in its semi-final game, as they will take on the Americans for the opportunity to advance and play for the gold medal.

Carey Price made 15 saves to move to 3-0 as Team Canada’s starter. P.K. Subban did not suit up for the game.
