Down 3-1 in the series, the Canadiens face a must-win situation when they play host to the Senators in Game 5 on Thursday night at the Bell Centre.
The Habs dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to the Senators in Game 4 on Tuesday night in Ottawa. Leading 2-0 heading into the third period on goals from P.K. Subban and Alex Galchenyuk, Mika Zibanejad and Cory Conacher tallied for the Senators to tie the game, before Kyle Turris scored the game-winner at 2:32 of overtime. Carey Price turned aside 30 of the 32 shots he faced, before being replaced by Peter Budaj to start the overtime period. Craig Anderson stopped 26 of 28 shots against to register his third win of the postseason.
Should the Canadiens manage to extend the series with a victory on Thursday night, Game 6 will be played on Saturday night at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa.
- Brian Gionta will undergo surgery on Friday to repair a torn left bicep. He will not return this season.
- Carey Price will not return in the series against Ottawa due to a lower-body injury.
- Jason Spezza is inching closer to a return to action, having completed another step in his rehabilitation from back surgery. Spezza, however, is not yet ready to begin practicing alongside his teammates.
- By each recording their fifth points of the playoffs on Tuesday night in Ottawa, Daniel Alfredsson and Erik Karlsson moved to within three points of the leading point-getters in the NHL thus far this post-season.
