Game preview: Hurricanes @ Canadiens

Monday, 18.02.2013 / 9:45 AM

Coming off a third consecutive victory, the Canadiens play host to the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday night in Montreal.

Paced by Peter Budaj's 18 saves and two-point efforts from Max Pacioretty, Brian Gionta, Rene Bourque and Brendan Gallagher, the Canadiens bested the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1 on Saturday night at the Bell Centre.

The Hurricanes have also earned victories in their last three contests, most recently posting a 3-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs last Thursday night in Raleigh.

The Canadiens and Hurricanes split the season-series last year, with each club registering two wins apiece.

- Peter Budaj will make his second consecutive start in goal. Carey Price serve as Budaj's back-up after being sidelined with a flu virus.

- Brendan Gallagher is out indefinitely after sustaining a concussion in Saturday night's 4-1 win over Philadelphia. Ryan White will likely return to the Habs' line-up in Gallagher's absence.

- Despite missing practice with flu-like symptoms, P.K. Subban is expected to play Monday night against Carolina.

- Forward Jeff Skinner will not participate in Monday's contest due to an upper-body injury suffered last Thursday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

- Joni Pitkanen and Tim Gleason will not suit up for the Hurricanes on Monday night. Both are sidelined with lower-body injuries.

- Cam Ward will get the start in goal for Carolina. He is 14-7-3 in 24 career starts against the Canadiens.
