The Canadiens are back in action on Tuesday night, welcoming the Florida Panthers to the Bell Centre.
Michel Therrien’s troops will look to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to the Leafs in their season-opener on Saturday night. Habs captain Brian Gionta scored the lone Canadiens goal in the defeat. The task won’t be an easy one with the Panthers coming off a 5-1 trouncing of the Carolina Hurricanes in their last game, with Jonathan Huberdeau and Alex Kovalev picking up three points apiece in the outing.
Of the three games on tap between the Panthers and Habs this year, Tuesday’s game will be the only one taking place at the Bell Centre. Florida won all four games against the Canadiens last year, with Scott Clemmensen earning wins in three of those match-ups.
Canadiens story lines:
- The goal scored by Brian Gionta on Saturday night was his first since Dec. 6, 2011.
Panthers story lines:
- Saint-Jerome native Jonathan Huberdeau will play at the Bell Centre for the first time in his young NHL career on Saturday night.
- The three points recorded by Alex Kovalev on Saturday were his first in the NHL since Apr. 23, 2011.
- Brian Campbell currently shares the league lead for goals by a defenseman with two.
